Manchester City Set To Sign Nigerian Wonderkid Kelechi Iheanacho

Nigerian wonderkid Kelechi Iheanacho will sign a deal with Manchester City, according to the player's father.

Iheanacho was named the best player at November's Under-17s World Cup after scoring six goals, including one in the final, as his country triumphed in the United Arab Emirates.

He has since been linked in his homeland with moves to Porto and Chelsea but his father, James, claims that the Etihad Stadium will be his next destination.

"As I am talking to you, I have chosen in my mind that Kelechi is going to Manchester United," he told SuperSport's 'Monday Night Football', before appearing to correct himself by saying: "I have told you that he is going to Manchester City."

Iheanacho senior later confirmed to MTNFootball.com that the player's family made a joint decision on where he would go in a meeting on Monday night. "We prayed [on Monday] and, after due consultations with family members, we came up with Manchester City, believing he has a future there," he explained. "That is where he will be uplifted."

The young striker had been declared missing by his father on Friday after he had left his home in Owerri without alerting his family but returned early on Monday morning before a decision on his future was made.

James has been integral in his son's fledgling career, with rumours that he had valued the starlet at €1 million (£840,000), though he denied those claims, declaring: "No, those people are my enemies. I never said that."

SPORTS: Pellegrini Insists He Has Faith in Joe Hart Despite Another Costly Mistake

Manchester City v Everton - Premier League
Romelu Lukaku's Goal Against Manchester City was Joe Hart's fault

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says he will keep faith with Joe Hart despite the goalkeeper continuing his run of costly mistakes.

Hart, who was expected to be dropped by Pellegrini, gifted Everton the opener during City’s 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.

It followed on from errors against Bayern Munich in midweek and several other mistakes in recent weeks, but the City boss insists Hart is still his number one.

‘It was not a simple decision to keep Joe Hart in the team but I know that he needs all of our trust – the trust of me, the players and the fans,’ said Pellegrini.

‘I talked a lot with him after the match against Bayern – of course he feels he didn’t do well in the last game but today he showed his strong character.

The acid test of the confidence in Hart will come next week, with the goalkeeper set to link up with the England team for two crucial World Cup qualifiers.

Roy Hodgson was watching the 26-year-old against Everton and must now decide whether to stick with him for the games with Montenegro and Poland or ditch him.

Hodgson has hinted on Friday he would play Hart regardless of criticism, but Celtic goalkeeper Frazer Forster has impressed on Champions League duty and could come in.

This is how fans look while watching their team play Bayern Munich

Brooks Peck
Bayern Munich went to Manchester and beat Man City 3-1, but the scoreline was much kinder than the match it represented. Pep Guardiola said it was Bayern's best performance of the season (and they're undefeated in the Bundesliga, remember) as they had 70 percent of possession and had a 3-0 lead before the hour mark.

"To be so dominant against such a big team, we didn't expect an easy game like that," said Arjen Robben. "I think it's also a big compliment to our team but I expected a bit more from City." Ouch.
Clearly this wasn't an enjoyable evening for Man City fans, especially after losing to Aston Villa at the weekend. In fact, the mass misery in the stands at the Etihad reached such a low point that several people opted to stare at other sullen faced supporters (in a creepy, unnerving sort of way) rather than watch the hurtful disappointment on the pitch for one second longer. But I'm still not sure why Roman Abramovich was standing with City fans for the game.
The shirts in this picture will likely prove interchangeable with those of every club Bayern face this season, though. This will probably be a familiar pose for opposing goalkeepers, too...
