Manchester United Sack David Moyes, SEE Their New Coach

The Scot oversaw the club's worst campaign in the Premier League era and missed out on Champions League qualification, and leaves Old Trafford just a season into his six-year deal

Manchester United have sacked manager David Moyes with immediate effect after owners the Glazer family finally lost patience with the Scot.

The 50-year-old, who created a host of unwanted records during his brief stint at Old Trafford, becomes the first United manager to be dismissed since Ron Atkinson in 1986.

Announcing Moyes' departure on their official Twitter account, United added: "The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role."

Moyes had endured a torrid campaign in charge of the reigning Premier League champions, with Sunday's abject 2-0 loss to former club Everton guaranteeing that the Red Devils will miss out on a place in the Champions League next season.

Defeat at Goodison Park was their 11th of the season - just one fewer than relegation battling West Brom - and left the club languishing in seventh place in the table.

Sunday's result marked the first time both the Toffees and Liverpool have completed a league double over United, while local rivals Manchester City managed that feat for the first time since the Premier League's inception.

Moyes had been handpicked by Sir Alex Ferguson to take over upon his retirement, urging those in attendance of his final match at Old Trafford to "stand by our new manager".

But with United having struggled so much under Moyes, the club's hierarchy were increasingly worried that he was no longer the right man to entrust this summer's £200 million warchest to.

Veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs could take over first-team duties for the remainder of the season, while there is even speculation that Sir Alex could return to the dugout he vacated just a year ago.

Champions League : Bayern Munich Come From Behind to Oust Manchester United

Manchester United went ahead but could not resist Bayern Munich, who moved into the semi-finals of the Champions League with a 3-1 win on the night and a 4-2 aggregate victory.

United took a surprise lead through a fantastic shot from Patrice Evra, but the French left-back was culpable as Bayern stormed back through goals from Mario Mandzukic, Thomas Mueller and Arjen Robben.

Mandzukic headed home seconds after the restart following Evra's fine strike, with Mueller finishing well from a Robben cross to put the Germans ahead.

Wayne Rooney - playing through a toe injury - spurned a good chance to equalise, but then Robben's solo run resulted in a low shot that Nemanja Vidic deflected past David De Gea, ending David Moyes' hopes of an upset.

Manchester United’s Captain Set To Leave ManU For Rival Club

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old defender’s contract expires in the summer and he has been linked with a move to Italy, with Inter Milan tipped to secure his signature.

The timing of the Serbian’s announcement may spark further anxiety among Manchester United fans, many of whom have been unhappy with the club’s progress since David Moyes took over as manager from Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Premier League champions are currently seventh in the table, trailing leaders Arsenal by 15 points.

Moyes had indicated that he would like Vidic – club captain since 2010 – to stay, but it is thought that he had not been offered a contract extension.

In a statement released by the Old Trafford club, Vidic said: ”I have decided that I will move on at the end of this season.

“I want to challenge myself again and try to make the best of myself in the coming years.

“I’m not considering staying in England as the only club I ever wanted to play for here is Manchester United and I was lucky enough to be part of this club for so many years.

“I’ve got a few options to move on and I will choose the right one for me and for my family.”

Vidic signed for the Red Devils in 2005 and was paired with Rio Ferdinand in the last great central defensive partnership of Sir Alex’s reign, winning 15 trophies including a Champions League winners medal in 2008.

Last May he skippered the side to their historic 20th top flight league success – their last under Sir Alex.

But he was limited to 19 league appearances in that campaign as he battled a serious knee injury which had troubled him since 2011.

CRAZY: Manchester United Fan Commits Suicide After Loss To Newcastle

A man believed to be a fan of Manchester United Football Club committed suicide Saturday night in Nairobi’s Pipeline estate after the team lost 1-0 to Newcastle.

Police said John Jimmy Macharia aged 23 jumped to his death from the 7th floor of a building he was after learning his team had lost in the Saturday evening match.

According to Nairobi County police chief Benson Kibue, Macharia told his friends he could not stand and watch the team beaten in a row before he leapt down dying on the spot.

“All witness accounts suggest he committed suicide because the team lost but officers are still talking to those who were with him as part of the investigations into the incident,” he said.

I’m Confident Manchester United Will Win The Premier League – Moyes

(AFP)- Manchester United manager David Moyes maintains that his side can still win the Premier League despite slipping 12 points behind leaders Arsenal.

The Old Trafford side suffered a fourth defeat of the season when they were stunned 1-0 at home by his former club Everton on Wednesday.

The champions are now ninth in the table and are as close to the relegation zone as they are to the summit.

United only lost five league games in the whole of last season, but even though Moyes accepts it will be a struggle, he insists his team should not be ruled out.

“We have got a long way to go,” he said. “We will need to play some great football and win an awful lot of games in the run-in if we are going to be in there and around it at the end of the season.”

Asked if he believed United were capable of that, he replied: “Yes. I’ve got nothing to suggest anything else.”

The United manager admits he does not know when last season’s top scorer Robin van Persie will return from a groin problem.

Striker Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, will be suspended for Saturday’s home match against Newcastle United after picking up five yellow cards.

Netherlands international Van Persie has not played since the 1-0 win over Arsenal on November 10.

“It is a sort of a groin injury. Nothing desperately serious, just a groin injury,” Moyes said.

“We have been trying to get him back for a few weeks, but he is not ready yet.”

Moyes was the target for chants from Everton fans angry at the manner of his departure during the close season and his subsequent attempts to sign Marouane Fellaini, who joined in a £27.5 million deal ($45 million, 33.2 million euros), and Leighton Baines.

But the Scot, who spent 11 years at Goodison Park, said that he had no issues with the supporters of his former club.

“It is not important. Everton supporters supported their team well,” he said.

“It (defeat) doesn’t hurt more being Everton. I know they are a very good team with very good players. You would imagine it is a sore one when it is your old team, so that is the way it is.”

After Rooney and Danny Welbeck hit the woodwork either side of half-time, Everton’s Costa Rican left-back Bryan Oviedo turned in the game’s only goal from Romelu Lukaku’s scuffed shot with four minutes remaining.

Everton are fifth in the table and five points above United after their first victory at Old Trafford since 1992.

Moyes’s successor, Roberto Martinez, believes that the victory at United will help his team change their mindset against the Premier League’s biggest sides.

“It was more than a football game; for us it was trying to get over the mental block we had for many years,” said Martinez.

“Someone told me it’s 20-odd years since we won at Old Trafford, so it wasn’t about three points. It was about being ourselves throughout the game and pushing each other.

“The performance isn’t the best this season — we’ve played a lot better — but we had a real mentality when we had to dig in and they created a few chances.

“But we never felt inferior and kept doing what we’re good at, created many open chances, which is always hard to do, and overall I couldn’t be prouder of the mentality of the players.”

On Oviedo, who has been used as back-up to Baines since joining Everton in 2012, Martinez added: “Bryan has got the hardest job in football to be fighting against one of the best left-backs in world football at the peak of his career.

“It’s reward for his hard work and he deserves it.

Ferguson With The Premier League Trophy Last Season

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Manchester United to recover from their slow start to the season and retain the Premier League title.

Without the legendary Scot, who handed over the managerial reigns to David Moyes at the end of last season, at the helm the champions have endured their worst beginning to a league campaign in 14 years.

But two wins from the last three matches have suggested that United are beginning to hit their straps and Ferguson is confident Moyes can still land the title in his first season in charge.

‘We had bad starts to the season many times,’ he said – talking at a question and answer session to coincide with the publication of his autobiography.

‘We are the only club in that league that can come from behind to win the league because of our history.’

Ferguson upset many of his past players and rivals for his typically forthright views in his book, with Roy Keane, David Beckham and Steven Gerrard all coming in for some particularly fierce criticism.

However, the former United boss was unapologetic and insisted his memoirs were released for the club’s supporters.

‘I wrote the book for the fans, to help them understand why I had to make certain decisions,’ he said.

‘[It was] not for the press, that was a book to help people understand how difficult the job is at Manchester United. It’s a massive job, it’s the biggest in the world.’

Street Named After Sir Alex Ferguson [LOOK]

Sir Alex retired at the end of last season after 26 years in charge that saw him become the most successful British manager of all-time. To honour him, former Waters Reach, a road that runs alongside United's stadium has been renamed Six Alex Ferguson Way.

He will also be given the freedom of the borough. That's a traditional honour given to people to recognise their status within a town or city.

SPORTS: Wayne Rooney Confirms Plans To Sign New Contract at Manchester United

Wayne Rooney says he is now happy with life at Manchester United and wants to sign a new contract at the club.

Rooney, who reportedly asked to leave Old Trafford over the summer, had interest from the likes of PSG, Monaco, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But despite being tipped to leave, he was eventually persuaded to stay by new United boss David Moyes, where he now admits he is settled.

And speaking while away on international duty, Rooney says he would now like to sit down with Moyes and discuss a possible new contract.

‘You can see I’m playing and I’m happy in my football,’ he said.

‘I’ll have more discussions with the club [about a contract] and we’ll see what happens from there.’

Rooney’s current £250,000-a-week deal is due to expire in 18 months – and it’s thought the 27-year-old is now seeking a deal that would secure him to United well into his thirties.

The new contract would also likely include a pay rise, with some talk that he could earn as much as £300,000-a-week if he signs up – putting him level with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

United are expected to discuss several new deals with players after Christmas.

Zaha has been left out of the Red Devils' squad for several matches, including last night's 1-1 draw with Shaktar Donetsk in Ukraine.

Before the Champions League match he wrote: 'Silly rumours. #childish', which has now been retweeted more than 1,600 times.
