Former governor of Zamfara state, Senator Ahmed Yerima, a popular man for unpopular reasons was in the news few months ago,for all the wrong reasons when he tried to get signed into law a bill that allowed adult male men to marry girls as young as 13.
Nigerians trouped out in their numbers to criticize and condemn the action. There was even a CNN interview where Senator Yerima was placed on the spot to defend his ridiculous values also to question his marriage to a 13 year old Egyptian girl Maria, four years ago, and yet he could not give an plausible explanation to support his cause.
The Senator, according to reports has now divorced 17 year old Maria who has one child for him and pulled another young girl out of Egypt for marriage. This new child-bride is just 14.
