Woman Gets Caught Stealing Baby Through Window In Ogun State (Photo)

For allegedly trying to steal a year old girl from her parents’ house early this morning, a 31-year old woman is currently being interrogated by the police at Ajuwon Station for kidnapping. The suspect, Blessing Aransiola, was caught by the girl’s father, Mr. Seye Adanri, 34, as she attempted to escape with the girl, Oreoluwa Adanri.

Narrating the incident to P.M.NEWS this morning at the Ajuwon Police Station where the suspect was taken to, mother of the girl, Mrs. Adebisi Adanri, 29, who lives with her husband at 21, Ademola Coker Street, Alagbole, Ogun State, said she was woken up by the cry of her daughter in the hands of the suspect around 4.a.m.

“She was trying to run away when my husband ran after her and caught her. I raised an alarm todraw neighbours’ attention to the incident and everybody came out to assist us,” Mrs. Adanri narrated.
She disclosed further that the suspect got into her house by tearing the window net.
“She picked up the baby as she was sleeping on the bed by the window and stole N5,000 kept in a purse,” she added.
But in her statement to the police, Blessing, who said she was homeless, denied stealing the baby and the money. She told her interrogators that she was looking for where to sleep when she saw that there was a verandah near the window of the couple’s house.
“I was looking for a place to sleep when I saw the verandah. I was trying to sit down when the net got torn. I was wandering about, I didn’t steal any baby or money.
Last year November I sustained injury on my leg and I couldn’t walk properly again. Later, I developed problems in my eyes and I couldn’t see properly again. Since then I have been moving about,” she stated.
She disclosed further that she was living at 5, Modupeola Street, Iju-Ishaga when co-tenants conspired against her and labelled her a thief, adding that this made the landlord to send her packing.
“I am not a thief. They accused me of kidnapping but I am not a kidnapper, I was just wandering about because I have nowhere to sleep. I did not kidnap any child,” she stated.

NEWS: Father, Girlfriend Kidnaps 9-Year Old Son

kidnap-suspects-9janinja

A 48-year-old man, yesterday, at the Lagos State command of the Department of State Services, DSS, gave a starling revelation of how he masterminded the kidnap of his nine-year-old son in Badagry area of Lagos.
The suspect, Adeyinka Adebayo, who admitted to have connived with his 28-year-old girlfriend, Kehinde Alonge, said he committed the act to generate money from his church members.
He added that the supposed ransom was to meet up with his girlfriend’s demand.
Parading the suspect alongside his girlfriend before journalists, the Director, Lagos State Command, DSS, Mr. Victor Achu, explained that Adebayo had on October 3 reported at the command that his son had been kidnapped.
Achu said: “The command swung into action. Preliminary investigations confirmed the kidnap of the boy by one Kehinde Alonge, who demanded a ransom of N350,000 for his release and directed that the money be paid into a UBA account.
“The account was later discovered to be owned by one Taiwo Faloye. After series of tactical planning, the owner of the account and Kehinde were arrested at Ilesha, Osun State, while trying to withdraw the money.”

Drama
A mild drama, however, unfolded following an argument between Adebayo and his girlfriend over who brought up the kidnap plan.
While Adebayo claimed that Kehinde hatched the plan to get the N200,000 she needed to open a hairdressing saloon, the later interrupted, stating that “he is lying. I was in Ilesha when he called me to come to Lagos that some people owed him money.
“He said the only way to collect the money from them was for me to come and take his son away, while he pretends that he had been kidnapped.
“I came to Lagos on October 4. I intended going to the school to pick the boy, but Adebayo advised I picked him from the house.
“Since the children knew me, I told the boy to follow me to get something outside and entered the next available vehicle to Ilesha, Osun State. His father even gave me N3,000 for transport.
“When we got to Ilesha, he sent another N3,750 worth of recharge cards for his feeding. He even called his son on phone daily. He was the one that asked me to demand N350,000.
“However, at the end of the bargain, he said I should accept N200,000. Since I had no bank account, I asked one of my relatives to give me his account details. But we were arrested at the point of withdrawal.”

‘She needed money’
However, Adebayo, a father of two, said: “My girlfriend said she needed money to open her own hair dressing saloon. Since I was not financially buoyant, I decided to raise money by masterminding my son’s kidnap.
“I am a vulcanizer and business had not been booming. Anyone I approached for money usually declined to assist me.
“To get money from my church members in particular, I had to mastermind my son’s kidnap.
“He spent nine days at my girlfriend’s house. At the end of the day, I was able to raise N450,000 from my church members and friends, who earlier refused to help me.
“I regret my action because my son may never forgive me if he is told. I feel ashamed also because his mother has been down with stroke, though we are no longer married.
“I beg to be forgiven. It was the handiwork of the devil.”
The suspects, according to Ochu, would be charged to court.

NEWS: Libyan Prime Minister, Ali Zeidan 'Kidnapped'

The prime minister of Libya, Ali Zeidan, has been kidnapped by an armed group of men from an upmarket Tripoli hotel where he lives, officials have said.

It comes amid anger from Islamic militant groups that a Libyan al-Qaeda suspect, known as Abu Anas al-Libi, was detained in a US-led raid on Saturday.

‘The head of the government Ali Zeidan was taken at dawn this morning by gunmen to an unknown place for unknown reasons,’ a government statement said.

Guards at the Corinthia Hotel said gunmen had taken Zeidan and two of his security guards from the hotel but there were no shots fired or clashes during the incident.

Conflicting reports suggested the incident could have been an ‘arrest’ or a militant-led kidnapping but a group of former Libyan rebels said it had seized Mr Zeidan because of his government’s role in the capture of al-Libi.

‘His arrest comes after the statement by John Kerry about the capture of Abu Anas al-Liby, after he said the Libyan government was aware of the operation,’ a spokesman for the Operation Room of Libya’s Revolutionaries said.

Following the US special forces raid at the weekend, several groups accused the government of colluding with the Americans, although it has denied having any prior knowledge of the operation.

Mr Zeidan had met al-Libi’s family just hours before this morning’s incident.

Two years after a revolution toppled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, the fragile central government has been struggling to contain rival tribal militias and Islamist militants who control parts of the country

16-year-old boy Escapes Death From Ritualists In Kwara State

But for God, Master Jamiu Memudu, a 16-year-old boy from Offa in Kwara State but who resides with his mother at Ajegunle, Lagos State, would have been history. On September 9, the boy fell into the hands of suspected ritualists who took him from Badagry area to an unknown place in Ibadan.
He was already being taken to Golgotha, probably to be sold to those who needed his body parts, before……
he escaped from his abductors on September 13, four days after he had been a captive.
The story of Jamiu’s family will evoke sympathy. His mother, Madam Serifatu Memudu, is a widow of over 11 years. Since her husband’s death, her three children, all males, have been her source of consolation. At her residence at 25, Ifelodun Street, Ajeromi-Ajegunle, Lagos State, neighbours know her with the three boys namely Jamiu, Lekan and Babaloko.
She was struggling to make ends meet at Berger motor park, along Oshodi-Apapa expressway where she sells hot Koko (custard). Though of humble background, her extended family is a closely-knitted one, so it was normal for her children to go to her younger brother, Mr Muritala Jimoh, who resides at Badagry town in same state.
On Saturday, September 7, 16-year-old Jamiu Memudu expressed his desire to visit his uncle for the weekend. Without hesitation, the woman approved of the journey and in no time, Jamiu got to his uncle safely.
Two days after, at about 3.10p.m., the boy decided to return home and his uncle saw him off to the road side to board a bus to Mile 2. Having waved his nephew bye, Mr Jimoh returned home, expecting a call later that he had arrived home.
The tide turned from the moment the bus moved from the bus stop, and the boy almost had his fate sealed if not for providence. Jamiu fell victim of suspected ritualists before he miraculously escaped from their net four days after he was captured.
The JSS 1 Awojora Secondary School, Ajegunle student narrated his experience thus: “I entered a white commercial bus at Badagry. We were many in the bus and we did not know when we all slept off, only to find ourselves in a hall when we woke up. It was already night.
“All of us started crying but they shouted us down, threatening to cut off our heads if we did not keep quiet. They were all speaking Yoruba and had cutlasses and knives. They were beating those who could not control themselves. They told us to inform them if we were hungry. We were not allowed outside the hall except in the night and they usually blindfolded us.
“I started praying that God should make a way of escape for me. After some days, five of our abductors blindfolded us and put four of us in a Sport Utility vehicle and drove us away from the hall. We sat on the floor of the vehicle and they put their legs on us. They stopped at a point and one of them got down to make a call. Others moved to the front of the vehicle and leaned on it.
“Shortly after, I heard the sound of an approaching train. I removed the blindfold and opened the door when I noticed that it was not locked. I ran after the train and I saw that they quickly enter the vehicle and drove off with others. When I got to a place along the rail line, I noticed soldiers and walked towards a mosque I saw there.”
Narrating how she felt, Madam Sherifat (40) said: “That would not be my son’s first time of going to his uncle’s place. On the Monday he was to return, I called my brother at about 5p.m. to know whether my son was on his way back home and he informed me that he had already left Badagry, saying that he must have been held in a traffic jam.
“At about 10p.m., I called again to tell my brother that my son was yet to arrive home. We kept calling each other throughout the night. At 4a.m. on Tuesday, I set out in search of him while my brother also left his abode. We went to different police stations along the way. We even visited a hospital when we were told that a young boy was hit by an okada rider but I discovered it was not my son because he was a Calabar boy.
“The period was a trying one for me as I became so troubled, not knowing the fate that befell Jamiu. Churches, mosques and individuals started praying for his return. On Saturday, September 14, I was at home when I saw military men who informed me that my son was found in Ibadan. Though shocked that my son had gone that far, my joy knew no bounds at the receipt of the news.”
Handing the boy over to his mother at Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, headquarters of 2 Division on Tuesday, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Lietenant Colonel Mustapha Anka informed Crime Reports that after interrogating the teenager when he was found roaming about the grounds of Leutmack Cantonment, Mokola, Ibadan, and later the central mosque, a team of investigators led by a military police officer was dispatched to Lagos State to verify his claims.
Anka, who acted on behalf of 2 Division, urged members of the public to always use motor parks set aside and recognised by the government, adding that they should report any criminal activity to security agencies so that they would be stopped from carrying out heinous crimes.
