Here Are My Conditions For Peace - Asari-Dokubo Speaks! (MUST READ)

Niger Delta ex-militant leader, Mujarhedeen Asari-Dokubo, has given what he calls his conditions for peace as the race for the 2015 presidential election enters its critical stage.

After his invitation last Thursday by the SSS over his inflammatory remarks on the 2015 presidential election, Asari-Dokubo insisted that he would only maintain the peace on the condition that the federal authorities call the leaders of the main opposition party, All Progressive Congress, APC, to order.

"For me as a person, nobody can take my right to talk from me. But I have assured the SSS that if the other side (opposition) maintains decorum, we too will maintain decorum. If they don’t, we too will not. We must all be treated equally.
"Buhari is not greater than Asari-Dokubo and certainly El- Rufai is not in any way greater than Asari-Dokubo. We must be treated equally before the law. Buhari, El-Rufai and their co-travellers must be called to order by the authorities and they must maintain decorum."
Asari threatened in a chat with National Mirror that Niger Delta militia would make the country ungovernable if President Goodluck Jonathan failed in his yet-to-be announced re-election bid.

Asari-Dokubo, who appeared unperturbed by his latest experience with the SSS, vowed that he would never be intimidated by arrest and detention by the security agencies not to counter opposition leaders and drop the ‘legitimate clamour’ for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Asa had warned northerners not to contest the highest political office in the country and enjoined the APC to pick its presidential flagbearer from the South/South geopolitical zone.

Warning about the dire consequences for the country if Jonathan was not re-elected, he said: “If it is war the North wants, we are ready for them because Jonathan must complete the mandatory constitutionally allowable two terms of eight years.

“At home, we have regrouped and we have put our people on the alert. In less than one hour, the way we would strike, the world will be shocked."

Asari-Dokubo Opens Up, Says Benin Govt Arrested Him Over Alleged Boko Haram Link

wpid-Asari-Dokubo.jpeg

The Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force and former President of Ijaw Youth Council, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, said he was arrested at the Republic of Benin over an allegation from Nigeria that he was a member of the Boko Haram Islamic sect.
He however attributed his travails in the hands of the Beninoise authorities to those opposed to the 2015 re-election ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan.
The NDPVF boss who appeared unperturbed by the arrest also said the crises “has raised my profile in that country.”
Speaking with Journalists on Friday night during his arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja he also described as lies, reports that President Jonathan sent a Presidential Jet to fly him into Nigeria from the Republic of Benin.
He said, “Crisis is normal, it can also happen here in Nigeria, it can happen anywhere in the world. The people and government of Republic of Benin have no problem with me. But if people alleged that somebody is a leader of Boko Haram, the government of that country will investigate the person.
“The allegation has much to do with 2015 because when your read comments on social media, you find out that somebody who is against President Goodluck Jonathan, said they should vilify me and make sure I die before 2015. But they are not going to succeed. I am not going to die. I will be present in 2015, and I will do what I am going to do to ensure that Jonathan wins in 2015. There is nothing they can do about it. This is their last fight and it is so unfortunate that the way and manner they are going with it shows how immature they are.”
He also denied that he was flown into Abuja in a Presidential Jet saying it is not true.
Asari said, “I just arrived from Cotonu. I drove in my car from Cotonu to Lagos Airport where I boarded Aero Contractors flight to Abuja. The report is not true. No presidential jet was sent to me.
“That report is an instigated falsehood. Most of the things that have always been written against President Goodluck Jonathan is also falsehood. A section of the press in Nigeria is manipulated and instigated.”
“I do business in Cotonu, and I have been living in Cotonu since 2008. Politically, people who are in Nigeria are trying to fabricate lies, which are not verifiable, and send it to the government of Republic of Benin. So I was taken for interrogation and they found that the allegations were false, and I was promptly released with over 20 of my staff who were also taken in.”
Asari also spoke on his meeting with officials of government of Republic of Benin after his interrogation.
“I have met with the top and powerful people in Republic of Benin, since I went to that country. I have never had any reason to meet with their government officials, but this crisis has made it possible for me to meet with all the top government functionaries of the Republic of Benin. The crises has raised my profile in that country”, he boasted.

Asari Dokubo Arrested In Benin Republic

Just got a press release from lawyer Festus Keyamo explaining that his friend and client, ex-militant Asari Dokubo was arrested in Benin Republic today. Read the press release below...
Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, my friend and client, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, around the hours of 1:00pm and 2:00pm by the country’s gendarmes (Police Force).
He was picked up around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to an unknown destination. We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now. In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as at this evening and nothing incriminating was found.
We think his arrest and detention is a ploy by certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government to keep him away as 2015 approaches.

We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, we shall be liaising immediately with our colleagues in that country to enforce his fundamental rights.

Thank you.
 FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.

"I Don’t Owe the Niger Delta" - Asari Explodes over New University

Ex-militant leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, who got to National prominence by claiming that he was fighting for the people of the Niger Delta is now singing a new song. As part of the fall out of the Amnesty programme he got a fat contract from President Goodluck Jonathan’s government worth billions.

He has now established his own University in Benin Republic and many are complaining that the Niger Delta people are still poor but Asari and other militants leaders are living large. We gathered that the ex-militant is not ready to listen to such complains.

Asari said he doesn’t owe the Niger Delta people accountability. In his words:

“I don’t owe anybody. I have nothing to put back anywhere. I worked hard and made my fortune mainly from outside the Niger Delta and Nigeria.”

In a post he made on CKN Nigeria blog on Saturday night, while reacting to criticisms that greeted news of his new university, Asari said he is helping people, hence no one should accuse him.

“I do what I am doing – impacting on the lives of people around me because I owe that to myself,” he wrote.

He said: “I have never stolen in my entire 50 years. I have never been elected into any government office to appropriate resources on behalf of the people. Even when I was appointed as a member of the Rivers state Muslim pilgrim welfare board….I left the board without a stain.”

However, some Niger Deltans are saying since Asari got his contract he is getting richer at their expense.

President Jonathan Is A Weak Ruler & Incapable As A Leader – Asari Dokubo

he President of the defunct Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahedeen Asari- Dokubo, once again took a swipe at President Goodluck Jonathan, stating that the Nigerian leader is a disappointment to the Ijaw ethnic nationality.

Asari-Dokubo said Jonathan is weak and unassertive as a leader.

More..
The ex-militant commander, who was reacting to the latest crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has led to the factionalisation of the ruling party, lamented that Jonathan could not take bold and courageous steps to tame the dissidents.

Asari-Dokubo, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent, regretted that Jonathan could not act like a typical Ijaw man, who is famous for boldness and exceptional courage.

He asked the President to be guided by an Ijaw famous saying, “Ama Doko Doko Biokpo,” which he interpreted to mean “small, small towns but they are very courageous and keep hope alive.”

Asari-Dokubo said he was unimpressed by “what he called poor response” to the crisis rocking the PDP by the Presidency and advised Jonathan to emulate former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who confronted and dealt with the dissidents in the party during his tenure.

He recalled how Obasanjo allegedly wielded power to quench the insurgency led by a former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, within the PDP, against his re-election in 2003.

To this end, he asked Jonathan to stop further peace talks and negotiation with the dissidents governors and their collaborators, including Obasanjo and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

He said Jonathan only needed to sit up and demonstrate uncommon courage to subdue his political enemies, adding that the crisis was orchestrated to frustrate his second term ambition.

Asari-Dokubo decried the recent statement credited to Abubakar Gumi that the killings in the North would stop as soon as Jonathan renounced his second term bid, adding that the cleric and his co-travellers were cashing in on the weakness of the President.

He nonetheless expressed the conviction that the plot against Jonathan would fail.

He said: “Jonathan is disgracing the Ijaw people and people of the South-South by negotiating with these dissidents. I am terribly annoyed by the way he is handling this issue, he is a disgrace. If he cannot withstand them he should tell us because there is no basis for negotiation.

“This is the time for Jonathan to act like an Ijaw man and he should stop disgracing us.

“Jonathan should hit them and he should tell us if he cannot hit them so that we can help him to hit them mercilessly. I have the potential to hit them hard. It is on record that I once held Nigeria hostage and Nigeria could not produce oil for 48 hours and my activities forced the prices of crude oil globally to rise by $30 one day. It was unprecedented and I can repeat it.

“The plot against Jonathan will surely fail but the President should be decisive with these people once and for all. Jonathan should assert himself as President and put these people where they should be. Obasanjo, who is leading these people did two terms and he plotted a third term.

“There should be no negotiation with dissidents. It should be total war, no retreat, no surrender and let us see who will run first. There is time for peace and there is time for war. This is the time to go into war.

“Jonathan should know that this is the time for war and if he cannot sustain the war, we will help him to sustain it. How many governors attempted to frustrate Obasanjo? Ibori and others were united behind Atiku Abubakar to frustrate Obasanjo and they failed because Obasanjo was strong, assertive, decisive and courageous.

“Jonathan should be strong to deal with them but whether he is strong or not, we are ready to support and stand by him. It is not a one-man battle but a total war and they must be totally vanquished.”

Besides, Asari-Dokubo asked Jonathan to hand over the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, to the ex-fighters in the Niger Delta for a decisive action.

On Amaechi, he said, “Let the security men step aside and let us see how Amaechi can come to Rivers State. Amaechi should not be protected because he has betrayed the collective interest of the Niger Delta.

“Jonathan should be decisive and look at the other way and allow us to stand on the streets for 24 hours and we will see whether this madness by Amaechi will not end.”
