I Can Sacrifice My Life To Find Our Chibok Girls Alive - Governor Shettima

Governor Kashim Shettima  of Borno State on Wednesday swore that he was prepared to sacrifice his life for peace to return to his state which had been under an emergency rule since 2013.

The governor however said he was not  afraid should the Federal Government decide to extend the emergency rule, noting that afterall, the state of emergency imposed on the state and two others had over the year proved to be ineffective

He said, “This state of emergency is nonsense, our major concern is to find our Chibok girls alive. I can sacrifice my life for that, wallahi, wallahi (I swear by Allah).”

Gov. Shettima of Borno State In Tears as he Declares 3-Day Fast For Missing Chibok School Girls [Photo]

Yesterday, Governor Kashim Shettima tearfully appealed to indigenes of Bornu state to embark on a 3-day fast which will run from May12th to 14th to seek the face of God over the missing girls and for peace to return to the state.

The Governor said:

“We are calling on all Muslims and Christians to embark on a three-day fast to seek God’s help toward rescuing our girls. All of us must fast because we worship the same God. There is no politics or religious issues in this matter because the abduction of the girls is something that should bother us all as parents, uncles and guardians.”

I Will Go Back To School After My Tenure – Governor Shettima

Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima yesterday said that his dream is to go back to school to acquire a doctoral degree after the expiration of his tenure as governor.

The governor who said this when he received the council of the University
of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) led by the pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Alhaji Balama Manu, said his ambition is to become an “intellectual in the true sense’’.

“I have a Masters degree, but after the political interregnum I wish to go
back and get a Phd so that one can become a true intellectual in the real
sense,’’ he said.

He said though he left the University of Maiduguri where he lectured for two years for the banking sector, he is still passionate about returning to the ivory tower.

The governor said though it was in the banking sector that he made his money, he still prefers to be addressed as a former lecturer.

Shettima said the university community remains the best as it accommodates diverse ideologies.
